Learners of the Week

Jungle Class

Reception:  Our Learners of the week are Adam and Amelie. In our PE lessons we have using the balance bikes to improve our balance and awareness of space. Both Adam and Amelie have shown that they have good balance which means that they were able to accelerate and glide with excellent control. They were also able to listen to instructions, look for space and come to a controlled stop all whilst being aware of others who might get in there way, including Mrs Bray!

Woodland Class

Year 1: Our learner of the week is Ryan D. We have been doing more writing about dragons and Ryan has had a good learning approach to his writing! I was particularly impressed by his use of adjectives. Well done Ryan.

Year 2: Our learner of the week is Bobby. Bobby has contributed really well to class discussions in mathematics showing good understanding of everything we have been doing. He has completed super quality work on doubles, addition and subtraction. Well done!

Ocean Class

This week a group of four children have been chosen as our learners of the week! Earlier in the week the children created a story map for a well known fairytale. They then used the story map to retell the story. Ruby, Darcey, Aiden and Tom used their story map to tell the story of The Gingerbread Man. Their retelling was fantastic; they used lots of fairytale language, detail and expression to tell the story to the class. The other children were absolutely captivated!

Desert Class

Year 5: Our learner of the week is Abigail. For the Big Talk homework, Abi thought carefully about her ideas and added some extra notes to her planning sheet. She then used this really well to help her to write her information text in class for the Big Write. Her writing was well-organised into paragraphs with sub-headings and her sentence structures were varied. A great piece of writing Abi and a superb effort made with your Big Talk homework. Well done!

Year 6: Our learner of the week is Harvey. Harvey demonstrated such a positive attitude towards our practise papers this week. Thank you Harvey for your enthusiasm and keep this up!

Jungle Class

Reception:  Our Learner of the week is Molly.  Whilst writing her Gingerbread biscuit recipe she was able to sound talk words, write down the sounds she could hear and use her sound mat to help her to find the sounds she was unsure of.  Not only has she done some fantastic writing Molly has also shown good manners this week on lots of occasions, saying please and thank to grownups who have has helped her. Well done Molly.

Woodland Class

Year 1: Our learner of the week is Antonia.  Antonia has contributed really well to class discussions in topic and literacy work.  We have paticularly enjoyed talking about dragons.  Antonia wrote a super story ending to go with this weeks' book, 'The Dragon Machine.'  Well done Antonia.

Year 2: Our learner of the week is Nathan.  We have been working on a story called the 'Dragon Machine.' Nathan wrote a superb story ending with great imagination, detail and adjectives!  Well done Nathan.

Ocean Class

Year 3: This week our Year 3 learner of the week is Eve. As part of our poetry unit we have been developing out use of language. When brainstorming ideas on Thursday, Eve came up with a range of fantastic descriptions including ‘The sky is ablaze with gold.’

Year 4: Congratulations to William who is our Year 4 learner of the week. Will has been really enthusiastic towards our new topic and has an excellent knowledge of the vocabulary involved. He is keen to learn and share his ideas with others.

Desert Class

Year 5: Our learner of the week is Liam. I have been impressed with Liam's work in Numeracy this week and his willingness to suggest answers in whole class inputs. His understanding of square and cube numbers has been excellent. Well done Liam.

Year 6: Ryan is our learner of the week. Ryan has been really focussed in our lessons and has worked well. In Numeracy this week, Year 6 have been using algebra. Ryan has shown a good understanding and was able to solve missing number equations.

Jungle Class

Reception: Our Learner of the week is Charlie-Jack.  There are lots of reasons why Charlie could have been our Learner of the week as he is always helpful and tries hard on all the activities he has been asked to do.  We were particularly impressed with Charlie when he was working with his group to create a story map for the Gingerbread Man.  He had lots of good ideas that he was able to share, draw and write about.  Well done Charlie-Jack.

Woodland Class

Year 1:Our learner of the week is Erin.  We have been working on writing stories about 'unlikely' friends.  Erin's story was both well constructed and thoughtful and even had a good twist at the end!  Well done Erin.

Year 2: Our learner of the week is Ella.  Ella has contributed really well to class discussions, demonstrating knowledge on a range of subjects including place value in maths, phonics and compass direction.  Well done Ella!

Ocean Class

Year 3: This week our Year 3 learner of the week is Olivia. In literacy we have been learning to write haikus. Olivia was able to use a range of exciting vocabulary to write a wonderful haiku.

Year 4: Congratulations to Charlie who is our Year 4 learner of the week. Charlie has had a fantastic week. He has been listening carefully, sharing his ideas and has produced some wonderful work. Keep it up!

Desert Class

Year 5: Maemi is our learner of the week. I was really impressed with Maemi's dedication to her Numeracy learning this week. She asked to take the activity home after the lesson to consolidate her learning and have a go at it again. The next morning, she then brought it back into school all completed. Well done Maemi! Keep up the hard work.

Year 6: Georgia is our learner of the week. In Literacy this week, the children have been editing and improving their story writing. I was really impressed by the improvements that Georgia made. Her improved piece of writing was of such high quality - with excellent vocabulary, hyphenated adjectives, semi-colons used for parenthesis and short sentences to create tension. Well done Georgia! A super piece of writing!

Jungle Class

Reception:  Our learner of the week is George.  George has worked hard this week in lots of different ways.  He has done some fantastic writing, he is being a wonderful innkeeper in our Nativtiy and he did some brilliant independent work sorting 3D shapes in Maths. Well done George.

Year 3: Our Year 3 learner of the week is Ruby. At the beginning of Friday's maths lesson, Ruby was finding the work a little tricky. She then worked incredibly hard with Mrs Ralph and by the end of the lesson was really getting the hang of it!

Year 4: Our Year 4 learner of the week is Eddie. Eddie always has fantastic ideas for hiw writing and this week he has used those ideas to produce brilliant work. Keep it up!

Desert Class

Year 5: Our learner of the week is Sam. Sam was identified by teachers from other schools as having superb manners and being incredibly helpful to other children during our stay at Leeson House. Thank you Sam for being such a star!

Year 6: Our learner of the week is Phoebe. Phoebe is a lovely member of the class and can be praised for so many qualities. She always works hard in lessons and also on her homework. Her teamwork when making the school Christmas post box was also noticed. Well done Phoebe and keep this up!
